IMPCT took part in the Hult Prize competition, which focuses each year on a different theme. In 2015, the Clinton Global Initiative, in partnership with the Hult Prize Foundation challenged students to design a project that would provide quality education to children living in urban slums.

IMPCT project was to create co-owned play cares where parents could leave their child for the day. The play cares would be managed by local caregivers whose role is to educate the young children and funded by multiple investors. The total cost of creating one Playcare reaches $10,000 which is made possible thanks to their partnership with Techo, Latin America’s largest NGO builder.

In order to provide quality education, IMPCT also provides intensive caregiver training through a Montessori curriculum, adding full nutrition program for the children attending the Playcare.

Out of 20,000 applicants and 6 finalist teams, IMPCT won the Hult Prize in September 2015 and the team was awarded $1 million to give life to their project.

Since then, IMPCT has opened its world’s first Playcare in Communidad La Cuchilla, San Salvadore !

IMPCT’s goal is to provide quality education to 10 million children in urban slums by 2020.

We can only wish them the best and I encourage you all to visit their website http://impct.co and support them!
